From the Lusignans who crowned their Kings in the beautiful St. Nicholas Cathedral, to the Ottomans Who,later converted it to a mosque, each century has left its mark on Famagusta.
The Old City’s narrow streets are full of small shops, where locals display there wares from fine examples of silver, copper, and ceramic work, to,fresh fruit and vegetables, not to mention the finest pastries and lokum (Turkish Delight) on the island. The area is also famous for its sandy Caribbean like beaches.
In this tour you will visit the Roman site of Salamis Ruins, followed by a stop at St. Barnabas Monastery to see 3D Icons. Then drive to Famagusta for Lunch at a local restaurant.
After Lunch, we will visit the famous deserted city Varosha (known as Maraş in TURKISH) the ghost city which has been closed to habitance since 1974. You will continue with your tour by visiting Famagusta City Walls and famous Othello Tower, followed by a visit to St. Nicholas Cathedral, and a trip to the Local Market, return back to hotel.
