Short answer: Lapta is about 56 km from Ercan Airport (ECN), roughly an hour's drive. The easiest way is a pre-booked private transfer (ours is €75). The cheapest is the KIBHAS shuttle bus to Kyrenia, followed by a taxi or minibus to Lapta.

Most guests arriving in North Cyprus land at Ercan, the airport near Nicosia (Lefkoşa). Lapta sits on the north coast, west of Kyrenia (Girne), between the Five Finger Mountains and the sea. Here are your options, from the most convenient to the cheapest.

1. Private transfer: €75, door to door

We arrange a private transfer from Ercan straight to Lapida Garden Hotel for a fixed €75, agreed before you travel. Send us your flight number on WhatsApp, or tick "transfer" in our booking form, and the driver will be waiting when you land. This is the best choice for families, late-night arrivals and anyone with heavy luggage. See all prices on our airport transfers page.

2. Taxi from the airport

Taxis are available at the airport around the clock. Fares to Lapta vary by company and time of day, so agree the price with the driver before you get in. Some fares are quoted in euros and some in Turkish lira.

3. KIBHAS shuttle bus + minibus

KIBHAS runs shuttle buses from Ercan to Kyrenia several times a day, including some night departures. The ride takes about an hour and you pay on board. At the time of writing the fare is listed as 600 TL per person, with two pieces of luggage up to 30 kg allowed. Timetables and prices change, so check before you travel.

From Kyrenia, take a taxi or the minibus (dolmuş) heading west to Lapta. The minibus stops right in front of our hotel. We can also collect you from Kyrenia centre for €40.

4. Hire a car

Car hire desks are at the airport, and a car makes it easy to explore Bellapais, St Hilarion and the beaches. Remember that traffic in Cyprus drives on the left.
